Dahabi Rafiq, meaning “golden friend” in Arabic. In 2004 “Rafi” was started in Dressage with Gina Duran of Topline Training in Pleasanton, California. With a solid foundation from which to build, Rafi is ready for someone to finish his saddle training and pursue multiple disciplines with him. Rafi has been shown at several Community shows where he was shown successfully in Halter and Sport Horse In-Hand. In addition, we have recently began ponying Rafi out on the trails of the Bitterroot Mountains where he seems completely content.

 

Rafi has a truly “royal” pedigree. His sire was our foundation stallion, Raffons Topper (aka “Handsome”). Handsome is a son of the Arabian legend Raffon++, who was the first Arabian stallion to ever earn a National Championship title in both halter and performance (English Pleasure). Handsome’s dam was the three-time National Champion Hunter/Jumper mare, Toppers Belle, daughter of the 16 hand stallion Mister Topper (sired by The Real McCoy). Handsome’s tail female line traces to the Crabbet foundation mare Bint Helwa, whom Lady Anne Blunt referred to as a “beautiful mare with fine head and style.”

 

Rafi’s dam was our precious broodmare Egyptian Empress. We valued Empress for her rare breeding — a The Egyptian Prince daughter out of the Aristocrat mare Drifronna (who was a *Silver Drift granddaughter) who was herself a daughter of the Aristocrat mare Kisronna — and for her elegant beauty, but truly cherished her for who she was on the inside. Rafi has an impressive nine Aristocrat mares in his heritage, with six of them appearing in the first three generations of his pedigree.

 

We couldn’t be happier that Rafi will continue his dressage and sport horse training at Fox Ridge Farm, where they aim to compete with him at the 2008 Sport Horse Nationals!
