DAHABI ARABIANS . . . Kyobi Rihma

1997 Chestnut Mare

Rihma is a 1997 Straight Egyptian Arabian, Al Khamsa, liver chestnut mare. She has a short, extremely pretty head with giant liquid eyes, large jowels and flared nostrils set on a medium length neck. She is short coupled with good substance of bone and a sweet disposition. Rihma is a fantastic mover with exotic type and a pedigree that compliments our stallions beautifully.

Rihma's sire, Ravenwood Monee (RG Al Mone x Saud El Maaroufa [Saud El Ameer x Maroulitta]), traces to the celebrated mare Moniet El Nefous and to the stallion *Rashad Ibn Nazeer through his sire's pedigree. Rihma's dam, Asasi Moonbeam (Rasmoniet RSI x Qastal [Soufian x Neama]) is a 1990 chestnut mare with well-balanced conformation, a sweet personality, and a who's who pedigree. Moonbeam’s sire, Rasmoniet RSI (*Rashad Ibn Nazeer x *Bint Moniet El Nefous [Nazeer x Moniet El Nefous]), has an outstanding show record and is the full brother to Bint Bint Moniet.

Rihma is a Straight Egyptian mare, though much of the foundation of her breeding lies with horses owned or bred by Wilfred and Lady Anne Blunt of the Crabbet Arabian Stud. Following are a selection of notable Crabbet horses in Rihma’s pedigree:

Queen of Sheba: Celebrated mare in the Syrian desert. Foaled in 1875, purchased by Wilfred and Lady Anne Blunt in 1878. 15 hands tall, chestnut mare with four white feet, small star and snip. In the words of Lady Anne, Queen of Sheba had a “splendid shoulder, strong back and quarter, very free action trotting, great stride galloping and tail carried high. This mare is perhaps, taken altogether, the finest in the stud.” Kyobi Rihma carries 104 crosses to Queen of Sheba.

Dajania: Bright full bay mare of the Kehileh Dajanieh strain with 3 white feet foaled in 1876. Purchased by Wilfred and Lady Anne Blunt in 1877. Lady Anne describes Dajania as having a “good head, fine ears, short back wonderfully strong, fair shoulder, perfect legs, fine action and carriage of tail.” Dajania was the progenitor of the famous “N” line through her daughter Nefisa (sired by Hadban). Dajania is found in Kyobi Rihma’s pedigree 41 times through her great-great grandson Kazmeen (Sotamm x Kasima) bred by the Blunts, who is the maternal grandsire of Nazeer (Mansour x Bint Samiha by Kazmeen).

Bint Helwa: White Seglawieh Jedranieh of Ibn Sudan’s strain foaled in 1887. Bred by Ali Pasha Sherif and purchased by Wilfred and Lady Anne Blunt in 1896. Lady Anne referred to Bint Helwa as a “beautiful mare with fine head and style.” Kyobi Rihma has 24 crosses to Bint Helwa through her daughter Ghazala (sired by Ibn Sherara).

Rodania: A celebrated mare foaled about 1869, a Kehileh of Ibn Rodan. Purchased in 1881 by Wilfred and Lady Anne Blunt. Horses descending from Rodania are present all around the world. Rodania, progenitor of the “R” line, is seen in Kyobi Rihma’s pedigree 10 times through her daughter Rose of Sharon (by Hadban), bred by the Crabbet Arabian Stud.

Mesaoud: Bright chestnut stallion with four whilte legs and blaze, foaled in 1887. Purchased by Wilfred and Lady Anne Blunt from Ali Pasha Sherif in 1889. One of the most influential stallions in the world in Arabian pedigrees. Lady Anne describes Mesaoud as having a “beautiful head and ears, deep jowel, very fine shoulder, great depth in front of girth, powerful hindquarter, large hocks and knees and remarkably deep cut sinews. Very fine mover, fast walker and trotter. Tail set on very high and carried magnificently.” Kyobi Rihma carries 99 crosses to Mesaoud.
